Fall brings cooler temperatures and shorter days. But there is still plenty of time to get outdoors as a family and have fun. This summer I attended Outdoor Retailers, a trade show for all things outdoor. While I was there, I found some great gear and clothing that would be perfect for you this fall. The products I list below are ones I really like and find they'll make getting outdoors easier. As a mom, I know that with the right gear, it’s easier to get the whole family outdoors more often.
FALL CLOTHING FOR OUTDOOR FAMILIES
Clothing by Dickies
You probably already know that Dickies makes a full line of work clothing for men. But they also have a great Women’s Heritage line and Children’s Line.
For women, the Women’s Heritage Long Sleeve Plaid Shirt is super soft and comfortable to wear. It’s a lightweight plaid shirt cut for a woman, so it flatters where it should. Pair it with a Heritage Collection t-shirt for a layered look.
For men, Dickie’s 874 FLEX Work Pant is great around the city or to wear to work. It has flex fabric so it moves with him and keeps him comfortable so he’ll continue adventuring with the family all day long. They also have a FLEX Tough Max Jean, Carpenter, and 5 Pocket Pant great for the outdoors.
prAna has great styles that go from city to trail. The Sage Jogger shown above for women has a fit that you can wear anywhere. I love their Kara Jeans which are made with 100% cotton. At prAna, you’ll find many styles made with organic, recycled, and sustainably made fabrics. I recently talked about the prAna outfit shown above and offer LFA readers a special discount on your next order.
Original Mountain Pant from Mountain Khakis
Mountain Khakis’ original #ManPant is what launched the company and now they've made it even better. The mountain pants we have always loved for its versatility and fit is now made with organic cotton. These rugged pants stand up to the trails and campsite, but are stylish for everyday.
Parks Project Clothing
This is a clothing company for men, women, and children that gives back and supports projects in the National Parks. Each design is inspired by one of the National Parks and supports a specific project. This kids 3/4 sleeve raglan tee supports Art for Parks. They have great designs that are run in limited runs, so grab your favorites today.
Rain Gear from Mishmi Takin
The Qaras waterproof soft shell jacket for women is perfect for fall and winter. It’s interior lining is super soft and zippered underarm vents help you adjust internal temperatures. It performs well in wind and rain making it a great jacket for your many adventures. Note: You may need to get a size larger to accommodate heavier winter layers.
Whitney Hoodie from Sierra Designs
800 Fill DriDown insulation provides plenty of warmth for outdoor fall fun in this hoodie from Sierra Designs. The Whitney Hoodie features an insulated yoke, zippered chest and hand pockets, plus an inside kangaroo pocket. Best of all, it packable and will stow inside its hand pocket.
Stylish Compression Socks from Sockwell
I’m a huge fan of Sockwell’s products. So much so I became one of their ambassadors. Their new Summit Series socks give you graduated compression support on the trails, when you travel, or for everyday use. They use natural yarn and special knitting technology to provide improved circulation, less fatigue, natural shock absorption, and blister resistance. Choose from low cut socks through a full under the knee compression sock.
Cambridge Rain Boots from Muck Boots
Muck Boots are ideal for fall and winter wet weather. Their new Cambridge Collection for women and children have a XpressCool Lining that keeps your feet dry all day long. The exclusive non-slip sole keeps you safe too. So they are perfect for puddle jumpers. The whole kids line of boots is filled with fun designs that the kids will love to wear. You'll love that you can just rinse off the dirt.

FALL GEAR FOR OUTDOOR FAMILIES
Kelty Journey PerfectFIT Child Carrier
Children are NEVER too young to go outdoors. Kelty has made it easier with their new Journey PerfectFIT child carrier. It is completely redesigned with both adult and child in mind. Coleman Carlsbad Tent
When camping, do you have children like wake up with the sun? Now with special dark room technology, Coleman has created a black out fabric tent that blocks 97.5% of sunlight. That means the tent interior stays dark providing for a great space for the family to sleep or nap. This 4 person tent fits 2 queen sized airbeds giving the family some room.
Teton ComfortLite XXL Camp Pad
This self inflating camp pad is great for families. It’s larger size (78” x 30” x 3”) provides more room and the Velcro side strips allow you to create a double wide may. Because it’s self inflating, it doesn’t need batteries and rolls up into a convenient to carry (32” x 7”x 7”) size. Whether you are using it as a pad for your sleeping bag or on a cot, it provides a layer of comfort and insulation. Note: This is the mat we took with us on our Moab trip.

Hydro Flask’s new wine collection makes it easy to bring your favorite vintages along on any adventure. The 25 oz Wine Bottle and 10 oz Wine Tumbler let you enjoy wine wherever you go, from afternoon picnics to evening concerts, to weekend excursions and beyond.
Backpack Cornhole from Outside Inside Gifts
Cornhole is a family favorite game for all ages. But the traditional version is rather large and not so easy to take on adventures. Outside Inside Gifts solved that with this backpack sized version. Wooden game boards are compact and measure only 12” x 6” x 1.25” and can be playing on the ground like the classic version or on a tabletop. Now you can play cornhole anywhere you go! Check out another of their favorite games Freestyle Barrel Toss.
Madrona Hang-Out Lantern by UCO
Whether you are tailgating, camping, or just in the backyard, this lantern is super versatile. You’ll love the magnetic lanyard that allows you to hang this lantern just about anywhere. You can also use it as a traditional lantern. Three blue LEDs output between 10-300 lumens with a twist of the dial to provide plenty of light for anything you are doing. It also serves as a 6400mAh power bank and charger. Super durable and its sleek design give you everything you want in a family camp lantern.
More and more of camping gear, especially lighting, is going rechargeable. Its a eco-friendly solution, but you need a way to charge your devices when you are out and about. MyCharge created the perfect solution in the AdventureUltra. This battery bank replaces bulky generators with its 1.2 x 5.8 x 4.1 inch size. It outputs 45 watts, enough to power a fan, recharge a phone or drone, and power smaller laptops like the 12inch Macbook that use less that 45 watts.
