I love all things Disney related. You could say I’m a bit of a FAN-atic. When I was selected as a Disney Side @Home Celebration host by Disney Parks and Mom Select, I was over the moon. I would be receiving a @Home Celebration kit to help me throw a fantastic Disney themed party. Let me tell you about how I decided to show my #DisneySide. All opinions you are about to read are my own. So sit back, secure all your belongings, and enjoy the ride.
As soon as I received my party host confirmation email, my head started reeling with ideas of how I could show my Disney Side. There is so much that I love about Disney. I grew up going to Disneyland. Now as a mother of 3, I love taking my family to Disney World as often as possible. I decided to do a “Favorite Things About Disney Parks” theme. The things my family loves most about Disney World and Disneyland are the food and the fun we have together. Here’s our Favorite Things About Disney Parks themed @Home Celebration.
In all started with a
mouse… box. Here’s the party kit. Everything needed for a fantastic Disney Side party would be inside. When I saw that box on my porch, I was giddy! I don’t know who was more excited, the kids or me!
Our party was designated as a multi-generational party. That meant that it was a party for everyone, young and young at heart. The kids and I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. The kit included an amazing assortment of party supplies, decorations, games, and other items to help decorate, entertain, and host my party. Take a look at what was inside the kit.
Disney Themed Nail Polish Set, Palace Pets, Disney Parks Luggage Tags, Sandwich Bags featuring Minnie Mouse, Photo paper and envelopes from HP, Treat Boxes featuring Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, Crayola Crayons, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse pencils, Mickey and the Gang Stickers, and Disneyland 60th Anniversary Celebration Favor Boxes.
All Mighty Pacs laundry detergent pods, Snuggle Booster Pods, Wisk detergent sample, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Go Fish and Snap card game, Disney Side Trivia Game Cards, Hostess packet (invitations, game instructions, coupons, etc), Party Banner to cut out, Disney Side Word Search, Disney Quote and Attraction Match Ups Game, and Pin the Grin on Mickey Game.
Minnie Mouse themed Snack Stand, Duff Tie Dye Cake Mix, Mickey shaped cake pan from Wilton, candy sprinkles, Swirl decorations, and party supplies (cups, tablecloth, plates, and napkins).
As you can see, it was everything I needed for a great #DisneySide party. Now, I will be the first to admit that I’m not much of a decorator. So my parties are light on decorations. The one thing I’m great at is food. You will never leave my house hungry. With that in mind, I got started planning what food I’d serve at the party.
Since the theme for the party was Favorite Things About Disney Parks, I decided to make recipes that could be found in Disney Parks or were inspired by them. One of the best parts of visiting any Disney Park for my family is the food. We have our favorites and I’m sure so do you. Here’s what we made for the party:
- Mickey Mouse Shaped Pretzels (all Disney Parks)
- Nutella and Berry Waffle Sandwich Bites (Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom)
- Hummus with crackers and fresh fruit (Most snack stands at any park)
- Sweet Chili Chicken Waffle Sandwich Bites (Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom)
- Pineapple Dole Whip (Magic Kingdom and Disneyland)
- Strawberry Soup (1900 Fare Park at the Grand Floridian, Disney World)
- Apple Churro Cupcakes (Churros at carts around Disneyland)
- Mickey Mouse Rice Crispy Treats with chocolate (All parks)
- Cinnamon Spiced Almonds (Snack Carts in all parks)
- Jungle Juice (Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge)
These are a few of our favorite things. Do you have a favorite Disney Parks food?
Now that my menu was set, I could get down to planning the rest of the party. The kit I received included invitations, but I decided that this would be an informal gathering. So I called and emailed friends and neighbors and invited them over for a Game Afternoon. We’d all get together, share Disney stories (my friends like Disney as much as I do), eat great food, and play a few games.
Here are few of the kids having fun testing their knowledge of Disney. It was fun for all ages!
Then a few friendly games of Go Fish Mickey.
A friendly game of Bingo. I forget how much fun this game can be. On one game, everyone called BINGO at the same time. Everyone’s cards were different, but it just worked out that way!
Lastly, parents and kids both got invited in a game of Disney Trivia.
Over all, we had a GREAT time celebrating our #DisneySide and sharing our Favorite Things about the Disney Parks with friends. It was fun to get together. Who says you need a reason for a party? Celebrating fun with friends, family, and neighbors is reason enough for us! What will you celebrate next?
Thank you again to Disney Parks and Mom Select for selecting me as a @Home Celebration host this year. I loved all the Disney items they sent to help with the party. I hope you enjoyed a glimpse at all the fun and delicious food we had. The only bad thing about hosting this party is now I REALLY want to go back to Disney World. Unfortunately, it’s not in the cards this year. But I girl can always hope that her Fairy Godmother will put her and her family on a coach with wings for a fun filled adventure. Hint! Hint!
