Spicy Island Fish Tacos and Outer Spice Seasonings Giveaway - #recipe #tacos #mexicanfood #giveaway #review

Tacos are a favorite in my house. Are they in yours? They are the perfect meal when you want something quick and easy. This recipe for fish tacos combines delicious island flavors; grilled tilapia, a spicy Asian inspired slaw, and sweet pineapple salsa. It’s the perfect meal for hot summer days. Enjoy it with an iced cold beer, margarita, or for the kids, a glass of cold limeade.

Outer Spice Spicy No Salt Seasoning - an all natural seasoning blend with no MSG, preservatives, or fat. Naturally gluten free and delicious.I recently had the opportunity to try a new all-purpose seasoning, Spicy No Salt Seasoning,  from new Austin, Texas-based spice company, Outer Spice. I love spicy Mexican food and I was excited to try  this.

Outer Spice launched in October 2013 with the idea to help boost everyone’s confidence in the kitchen. They currently offer 4 amazing low salt and no salt seasonings. All their seasoning blends are all-natural, gluten-free, and contains no fat, MSG, sugar, corn syrup, or other preservatives.  Their spices are hand-picked, freshly ground in small batches, and packaged the same day to ensure freshness, aroma and quality. It’s that attention to quality and detail that you can smell and taste. The company says, “Whether you’re a chef, foodie or a parent who does not enjoy cooking, Outer Spice is the easy, no-fuss solution to making cooking fun, healthy and delicious meals kids will eat.”

Outer Spice couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I recently stopped using my favorite all-purpose seasoning. I’m all for sand on the beach, but I don’t want it in my food. The old seasoning I had been using contained Silicon Dioxide, better known as food grade sand. I know the saying that a little dirt never hurt anyone, but really folks? I don’t want to purposefully consume sand. Luckily, Outer Spice seasonings do NOT contain silicon dioxide. I’ve found my NEW all-purpose seasoning in Outer Spice. This spicy no-salt blend  has a great flavor and can be used in everything from marinades and barbecues rubs to dressings and dips. Check the labels on your spices for silicon dioxide or silica. You’ll be surprised where you find it. I was!

I received a bottle of the Outer Spice Spicy No Salt seasoning for this recipe. This seasoning contains Garlic, black pepper, onion, allspice, thyme, lemon thyme, basil, scallion, red pepper, peppers, dill, caraway, cayenne, nutmeg, and other spices. You could taste the dill flavor and I thought it would go perfectly with fish. Therefore, I decided that fish tacos would be the perfect recipe to try with this seasoning blend. You can get your own Outer Spice seasonings at http://outerspiceit.com and select Whole Food Markets.

(For these tacos, you can substitute another all purpose seasoning for the Outer Spice Seasoning)

Spicy Island Fish Tacos with Outer Spice seasoning

These Spicy Island Fish Tacos are terrific for summer meals. They are light and quick to make. For the taco shells, I use soft corn tortillas and double up on the tortillas to prevent the tacos from falling apart. Here’s my recipe for corn tortillas. You can choose to use hard corn shells or soft flour tortillas. You can make the Asian coleslaw and Pineapple Salsa before hand and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use. I have pan-fried my fish in a little coconut oil, but you can easily grill, bake or BBQ on a wood plank, or deep fry it. Either way, you’ll love the combinations of flavor with the cabbage and pineapple. I know we do. So go out and enjoy these amazing tacos. You’re sure to see them on my upcoming meal plans.

Go and check out Outer Spice for yourself. There website has some other great recipes featuring their seasonings. After the recipe, be sure to enter to win your own Outer Spice Seasoning.
