Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hollywood
Who doesn’t love a little magic at Christmas time? Snowfall isn’t a common sight in Southern California, but with a little bit of wizarding magic, you’ll experience evening snow flurries. Every night, visitors will walk along Hogsmeade’s snow capped buildings and see snow falling onto the cobblestone streets. Talk about holiday magic!
Hogsmeade village is decorated for the season with festive lights and whimsical storefront displays. You can stop into the The Hogwarts student led Frog Choir returns with their frogs to delight crowds with their rendition of holiday carols.
Each night (beginning Nov. 17) a colorful light show illuminates Hogwarts Castle. Set to music from the Harry Potter movies, images and lights dance across the facade to entertain visitors. It outshines any holiday light display you’ll see this holiday season.
Holiday Themed Food
One of our favorite parts of any trip is the food. That’s no exception here. At the Three Broomsticks, I can never pass up a Sticky Toffee Pudding, but for the holidays, they are serving up special holiday themed fare.
The Three Broomsticks and Hogs Head are the place to pick up the wizard and muggle favorite, Hot Butter Beer. If you don’t want a hot beverage, there is always the classic butter beer or a pumpkin juice. Another returning item from the Wizarding World is the holiday meal. This family style meal includes British pub favorites and is large enough to feed a family of 4-5.
Grinchmas
Mr. Grinch returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with his own brand of holiday cheer. Plan a visit on the first two weekends in December or any day Dec. 14-30 and meet the Grinch in person. You can even snap a picture with him and his trusty dog Max. Evening festivities center around the lighting of the 65 foot tall Grinchmas tree. It’s a sight to behold that you don’t want to miss it. Plus the citizens of Who-ville perform Christmas classics and more.
Universal Studios Hollywood Decorations
The Grinch and the wizarding World aren’t the only ones to get in on the holiday spirit. Gru with his Minions are spreading are spreading holiday cheer. Be sure to hceck out the Super Silly Fun Land and the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem experience to see what mischief they have been up to. Throughout the park, you’ll find more holiday decorations, holiday themed music, and more family fun.

The 5 Towers Plaza sets the scene with a 40 foot tall Christmas tree with over 200,000 LED icicle lights. Santa comes to visit throughout the day. It is also the place for free concerts and street performers throughout the holiday season.
