How Kid-Friendly is Coconut Bay Resort & Spa?

The short answer – Coconut Bay is extremely family-friendly. The resort caters to families and couples. There are two wings within the resort; the adults-only Harmony and the family-friendly Splash. The Splash wing is home to CocoLand, the island’s largest waterpark with waterslides, an activity pool with swim-up bar for both adults and kids, a lazy river, and more. There’s also a pirate ship playground, splash pad, and plenty of other fun activities for kids of all ages.

Splash rooms are ideal for families with kids. Rooms are decorated with vibrant colors and include a stocked mini fridge, air conditioning, safe box, free Wi-Fi connection, flat screen TV, and more. Connecting rooms are also available for larger families or groups.

Complimentary Kidz Club

And if that’s not enough, the resort also offers a complimentary Kidz Club for children that feature supervised activities grouped by age (3 and under, 4-7, and 8-12). Available activities include games, arts and crafts, nature trips, and hands-on culinary experiences. The resort also offers babysitting services so parents can enjoy a romantic dinner or some adult-only fun time at the pool or beach while their little ones are being well taken care of.

Pool volleyball

Teens have their own hang-out spot too, The Teen Lounge, which includes a pool table, X-box gaming, outdoor activities, and more. So if you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort that is jam-packed with activities and excitement for both kids and teens, look no further than Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa in St Lucia.

Why should families choose all-inclusive?

The most important reason why families would want to book an all-inclusive vacation is for the convenience and ease of payment. A big concern for most parents planning a family vacation is how they’re going to afford it and pay for every little expense along the way, such as restaurant meals, snacks at the pool, drinks on the beach…etc. With an all-inclusive resort, it is one simple price you pay per person at the resort, and everything else is included in this fee; on-site food & beverages, activities & entertainment, services & amenities…etc.

Why should families opt for a vacation to Coconut Bay Beach Resort in St. Lucia?

The most important reason why families should opt for a vacation to St. Lucia is because of its beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, and incredible wildlife. The Coconut Beach Resort sits on 85 acres with a mile of beachfront. Best of all, the beach is uncrowded and offers plenty of fun for the whole family. The warm water is perfect for kayaking, swimming, and even kite surfing.

Couldn’t you just sit here all day?

Another great thing about this particular vacation spot is that it’s only a 5-minute drive from Hewanorra International Airport, which means travelers can be relaxing on the beach shortly after touching down and clearing customs in St. Lucia.

Note: Although technically an airport hotel, it feels nothing like an airport hotel. You do see the planes take off at the south end of the resort over the water every afternoon. But as far as noise pollution goes, you’d expect more from the pool and main bar.

What’s included in an all-inclusive stay at Coconut Bay?

The all-inclusive package at Coconut Bay St Lucia includes meals at any of the resort’s nine restaurants, snacks, drinks (including top-shelf alcoholic beverages at any of the 7 bars), non-motorized water sports, snorkeling equipment, and entertainment. You can also enjoy the use of the fitness center, Wi-Fi, and all the resort facilities. This is a great option for those who want to relax and not worry about anything while on vacation.

What is not included in your all-inclusive stay?

There are a few added amenities you can add to your vacation for an additional fee. These include massages and spa services, on-site kitesurfing gear and lessons, paintball, onsite Covid testing (inquiry with the resort as there are plans to include with a minimum stay), and off-site excursions.

What Can Families See and Do at the Resort?

Like most Caribbean vacation spots, Coconut Bay Beach Resort has been thoughtfully designed so that guests can explore a variety of different areas throughout the day. The beach on the property is a mile long offering plenty of room to relax and play, with the waves perfect for swimming and kayaking. Build a sandcastle, relax in a hammock over the water, play beach volleyball, or enjoy the sunset from the beach.

Popular events at the resort include the Caribbean dinner and show, beach party, foam party, and movie night on the beach. There’s also karaoke, bingo, live music, and themed nights like the White Party.

What Can You Expect from the Food?

Typically, I find that all-inclusive doesn’t equate to good food. Fortunately, the complete opposite is true at Coconut Bay St Lucia. The culinary team has created everything from Asian fusion dishes along with traditional St Lucian fare, so there’s something for everyone!

There are nine on-site restaurants featuring both a la carte and buffet dining options. The five specialty restaurants on-site change their menu seasonally to allow for fresh ingredients and creativity in each dish. Whenever possible, ingredients from the on-site greenhouse and garden are used in the menu items. (Note: The specialty restaurants require dining reservations which can be made after you arrive.)

Jerk Chicken, breadfruit, plantations, peas and rice, festival
Lunch at The Jerk Treehouse is a MUST!

Must-try dishes include the Jerk Chicken at the Jerk Treehouse (actually everything is good here), sushi at Silk, French Toast with the sauteed bananas from the Coconut Walk Marketplace, and the Curried Goat available during the Caribbean night dinner and show.

What are some other must-see attractions in St Lucia?

Aside from beautiful beaches and lush tropical scenery, St Lucia is home to plenty of other attractions worth exploring. The resort offers a great selection of off-site excursions on land and sea. These excursions are an additional fee, but well worth it for the unique experiences they offer.

Note: When I visited the resort in October 2021, Saint Lucia’s Covid restrictions allowed vaccinated visitors to leave the resort and partake in off-site excursions organized by the hotel/resort. Unvaccinated travelers were not allowed to leave the resort unless returning to the airport to fly home.

There’s also plenty to see and do on the island itself such as visiting the Sulphur Springs, ziplining through the rainforest, driving through the rainforest to the world’s only Drive-In Volcano, dolphin watching cruise, take a boat ride to see St Lucia’s iconic twin Pitons, go horseback riding, and much more.

Saint Lucia Tours & Excursions I Recommend

During my visit, I loved taking the All-Inclusive Catamaran Land & Sea Adventure and Maria Islands Nature Reserve Hike offered at the resort.

The Land & Sea Adventure hit all the highlights of the island. It started with a catamaran cruise which began in the town of Laborie and sailed up the southwestern coast. We stopped at two secluded coves for swimming and snorkeling. The highlight of the catamaran ride was when we got to sail up close to the iconic twin Pitons and then snorkeling between the Pitons.

After returning to land, we enjoyed a buffet lunch at a local restaurant and more stunning views of the Pitons. Afterward, we headed into the rainforest to visit a waterfall and tour through Soufrière, the world’s only drive-in volcano.

The Maria Islands Nature Reserve Hike is only offered at certain times of the year and is provided in partnership with the Saint Lucia National Trust. The islands are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including the St Lucia Whiptail lizard.

The island is closed to visitors during bird nesting season. The hike is a moderate 40-minute trek that takes you up to a ridge with stunning views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans.

Both of these excursions are amazing and offer a unique perspective on Saint Lucia that you can’t find anywhere else. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for something different to do during your stay.

How To Get the Best Package Rate?

To get the best rates, visit the Coconut Bay Resort St Lucia website. They guarantee the lowest prices and offer a significant discount when you book airfare and room together. Also, check the seasonal specials being offered for additional savings.

When is the best time to visit St Lucia?

St Lucia offers a year-round pleasant climate with average temperatures ranging from 78°F in December and January, to 88°F between February and April, to 89°F from May through November. There’s no bad season for visiting this beautiful island with so many activities to enjoy.

The high season is typically December through April when the weather is at its best, and rates are higher. The low season is from May to November when there is a higher chance of rain, but temperatures are still comfortable.

The Bottom Line

Coconut Bay Beach Resort is quickly becoming one of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. With an expansive list of activities and luxurious accommodations, it’s easy to see why. The on-site restaurants are sure to please everyone in your group, and with its close proximity to Hewanorra International Airport, it’s an ideal spot for those looking for a quick and easy Caribbean vacation.
