Do you know someone who has a fear of thrill rides, the water, or even just riding in vehicles? If so, they may suffer from motion sickness. Motion sickness is an illness that can be caused by any number of things including car rides, boats and even roller coasters. The Reliefband Sport was designed to help people with this condition find relief. I tested out this motion sickness relief band and share here how the band works and what sets it apart from other remedies I’ve tried before.

Many people have been known to suffer from some sort of travel sickness while on vacation or traveling for work purposes. Cars, boats, planes, trains and even pregnancy hormones might all contribute to motion sickness. I know from personal experience that I get nausous when I’m in the far backseat of a moving vehicle, on boats that rock side to side, and spinning roller coasters.
On a recent trip to Anchorage and Seward, Alaska I was offered the opportunity to test out a new version of the popular wristband – enter the ReliefBand Sport – designed specifically for those who participate in sports and outdoor activities where vomiting might not be a desired outcome.
Shopping Tip: Walmart.com offers faster shipping.
The small wristband is worn on your wrist like a watch. When powered on, it emits a low electrical current targeting the median nerve on the underside of the wrist. This is a key acupressure point which helps relieve nausea and vomitting symptoms associated with motion sickness.
Reliefband Sport
The Reliefband Sport was designed to help people with this condition find fast acting relief without drowsiness or other side effects.
Standard features:
- Waterproof design makes it perfect for those who participate in sports or outdoor activities
- There are six intensity settings you can adjust at the push of a button
- Rechargeable battery provdes 30 hours of use on medium intensity
- Drug-free remedy provides immediate relief for motion sickness
- Two different models are available.
- Fits wrists between 4″ to 8″
Smartwatch Band
Apple iWatch and Samsung smartwatch owners can integrate their Reliefband Sport with the Reliefband Sport Watch Connectors. This allows you to wear both your watch and Reliefband on the same wrist. You can see in the photo above that it’s a bit bulky. I have small wrists (6″) and I cinched the straps down all the way. Even though it’s a bit bulky, the Reliefband is still effective and it eliminates the double bracelet cuff look I had before.
When I first got these bands, I had some trouble figuring out how to attach them to my watch. I created this video offering a step by step guide to how to attach the sportwatch bands to a 38mm iWatch.
The Reliefband Sport Smartwatch connectors are available in black and grey, and come in two sizes, regular and XL. Find them exclusively on ReliefBand.com for $29.99.
When compared to other nausea remedies I’ve tried, the Reliefband Sport is my top pick. Here’s why:
- I enjoyed wearing the band on my Resurrection Bay Cruise in Seward, Alaska. The original plan was to cruise out to the glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park. But due to an approaching storm, the cruise was modified to stay in the bay which was calmer. The seas were calm until we reached the edgeof the bay where swells reached 10 feet. Despite the rough seas, I never experienced any motion sickness.
- Unlike Dramamine and other OTC remedies, this band worked immedaitely and didn’t leave me drowsy.
- On the winding mountain roads, I found motionsickness wasn’t a problem when wearing this band. I also found my anxiety was lessened because the accompanying anxiety symptoms triggered by an unsettled stomach weren’t there. So I felt less anxious.
- The Reliefband Sport doesn’t look like a medical acupressure band not is it uncomfortable to wear like the other accupressure bands. I have tried two sets of accupressure bands that had to be worn extremely tight for them to work. Having to wear them that tight caused skin irritation which I strongly disliked and haven’t worm them since.
- There’s no sign of using this device; you simply strap it onto your wrist like a fitness bracelet! Plus you can swap out the bands to change the look, just like I swap my Apple Watch bands.
Motion sickness is an illness that can be quite common for travelers caused by anything from car rides to boats. If you’re hesitant about any activity that might cause motion sickness or simply want relief, I highly recommend this product.
