My Experience at Camp Jellystone – Burleson
Above I’ve shared all the reasons why this is such a great vacation destination. Now, let me share what we experienced and why we enjoyed our stay.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were warmly greeted by the staff. We quickly settled into our Homestead cabin which we would be calling home for the next few days. The cabin, which is actually a park model RV, was spacious and had a full kitchen, which is always a huge perk for me. This model had one bedroom and a loft that slept 11 people plus had ample storage throughout.
Here’s a video I shared of our cabin on Instagram.
According to Go RVing, Park Model RVs (often referred to as deluxe Cabins or Cottages) are unique units that provide temporary accommodations for recreation, camping or seasonal use. Park Model RVs are designed to look like a home, but they need to be hooked up to site electricity, sewer and water like any RV. They may have a front porch, a sleeping loft and are a great way to experience the campground lifestyle if you don’t have an RV or all the gear that goes with tent camping.
After we unpacked, we went to pick up the golf cart rental (nightly fee) for the weekend. In my opinion, the gas-powered cart is an absolute must with the size of Jellystone Park. The resort is quite large, so unless you want to do a lot of walking, I highly suggest renting a golf cart for your stay.
That first day, we explored the grounds, met Yogi Bear, went to the petting zoo, took a dip in one of the pools, and went on the Hey Hey Hey Ride for a guided tour. We had dinner with the Go RVing folks and roasted s’mores over a propane fire pit. We were introduced to my new favorite s’more combo – Ritz crackers, Ghiradelli raspberry chocolate squares, and roasted marshmallows. YUM!
The next day we started off with a breakfast buffet at the Bear’s Den (nominal fee) and then set off for a FULL day of activities including fishing, archery tag, mazes, water park, nature trails, outdoor games, and a group activity making tie-dye shirts. We only stopped for lunch and dinner. What a day!
On our last day, we picked up breakfast sandwiches at the Bear’s Den (nominal fee) and did some morning stretches with Boo Boo Bear. Actually, I just watched from the sidelines and enjoyed my coffee. That morning we took it easy. My son met up with new friends to play foosball and go fishing one last time before we headed back home.
In short, we had an absolute blast at Jellystone Park in Burleson and will definitely be back.
