Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes Recipe

Serve up this quick and easy Philly cheesesteak sloppy joes recipe in under 30 minutes! Add this super easy recipe to your weeknight dinner rotation. Your family will love it just as much as mine do. Lately, we are loving sloppy joes in all forms. Check out this homemade sloppy joes recipe I shared. It’s also really good with BBQ sauce for something not so sweet.

Stuffing bell peppers with roast beef, mushroom, onion
Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers

This recipe for cheesesteak sloppy joes is based on my Keto Philly Cheesesteak stuffed bell peppers recipe. I got a great deal on grass-fed ground beef and was looking for new ways to use it outside tacos, meatballs, burgers. I took those same seasonings of garlic and Worcestershire plus the onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Then I put it all on a lightly toasted bun with cheese melted over the top. VOILA!!! Cheesy goodness!!! But don’t take my word on it. Try it yourself.

Make Ahead Meal Idea

Just like my original homemade sloppy joes recipe, you can double the recipe (or even triple it) and freeze it into smaller portions. Honestly, I think all sloppy joes are perfect for freezer batch cooking. Just prep and cook the ground beef, pepper onion, and mushroom mixture and then freeze. When you are ready to make this for dinner, just reheat, place on a bun, and add the cheese.

Love cooking this up in my cast iron skillet

Slower Cooker Sloppy Joes Variation

You could make this recipe in a slow cooker if you prefer.

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet with the olive oil until no longer pink.  I prefer my cast iron skillet.
  2. Drain off the grease and add meat to the slow cooker.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, except the cheese, to the slow cooker.
  4. Cover with the kids and cook on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours.
  5. Stir the cheese into the meat mixture until melted.
  6. Serve as you would in the original skillet recipe.

Substitutions: you can substitute 1 teaspoon garlic powder for the garlic cloves and ground turkey for the ground beef. Also, these are great as sliders.
