Great Backyard Bird Count is a Great Time to Take Up Bird Watching

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual 4 day event that is fun for all ages. It’s a terrific way to get the family outdoors, have fun, and help determine the health of bird populations in your area. This year the event is February 18 through February 21. If you miss the event, you can still get outdoors and have fun as a family.

Great Backyard Bird Count

This FREE event asks participants to count birds for as little as 15 minutes on one or more days of the event and report back their findings on the bird count website. This information helps researchers at the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology learn more about how birds are doing, and how to protect them and the environment we all live in.

We love bird watching. I always forget about the bird count until it’s too late. Remind me next year, will ya. 😀

Hey Nicky, thanks for sharing at #LetsGetRealSocial link party. It is still too cold for most birds here in North Dakota. We have bird feeders and still nothing is coming but that could be also because our puppy might be scary them away. Need to figure out how to have both dog and birds. 🙂

The Great Backyard Bird Count sounds like a blast! It’s awesome that it gets families outside. I’m curious, have any of you used the Merlin app? I’m a newbie bird watcher and could use all the help I can get! ????
