If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast in Greenville, South Carolina, you’ll have no trouble finding plenty of great options. This city is certainly a foodie destination, and it’s home to some incredible breakfast and brunch joints.

Whether you’re looking for a classic diner experience or something a little more unique, you’ll find it in Greenville. Here are just a few of the city’s hidden breakfast gems you’ll want to visit on your next visit.

Biscuit Head Greenville

The first stop on your breakfast tour of Greenville should be Biscuit Head. This popular spot offers monstrously huge cat-head biscuits, gravy, and all the Southern sides you could possibly want. They call them cat-head biscuits because they’re about the size of a cat’s head. And trust us, they’re delicious.

To go along with their flaky biscuit goodness, head to their Jam Bar for a multitude of housemade jam and jelly options. I loved the sweet potato chai jam. But there are other options like blueberry basil or blackberry ginger that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.

For something that will knock your socks off, try the vegan gravy- it’s out of this world! If you can’t decide on just one type of gravy, don’t worry- they offer a “Gravy Flight” so you can try three different ones.

HenDough Chicken and Donuts

Next up on the list is HenDough Chicken and Donuts, a chicken and donut shop inside Gather GVL, a local food hall made from shipping containers. The donuts here are made fresh daily and it’s THE place to get donuts in Greenville.

They offer flavor combinations that go beyond a classic yeast donut with flavors like Upside Down Pineapple Cake, Caramel Espresso, and Saint Patrick’s Mint. My favorite is the Creme Brûleé with a creme-filled center and carmelized sugar exterior.

Southern Pressed Juicery

For something not so heavy, stop by Southern Pressed Juicery. They offer a variety of healthy vegan breakfast options, including acai bowls and avocado toast.

But the real star of the show is their juice. They have a wide selection of both cold-pressed juices and smoothies, and they’re all incredibly tasty. I highly recommend the “the Big Green” juice, which is made with spinach, apple, celery, parsley, and lemon.

If you’re in the mood for something sweet, try the “Honeysuckle Dew” smoothie, which is made with blueberries, banana, strawberry, acai, almond milk, and raw honey. If you are in a hurry, you can order online and pick up in the store.

Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery

If you’re looking for a truly unique breakfast experience, look no further than Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery. This local favorite is a part grocery store supporting local farmers and part outdoor restaurant. The cafe serves up a wide selection of breakfast options, including both sweet and savory dishes. I ordered their famous Pogacha, which is a savory Croatian yeast bread with sausage, eggs, and cheese. It was served with maple syrup and was absolutely delicious.

If you’re in the mood for something sweet, try their strawberry hand pie. They’re some of the best I’ve ever had. And if you want something for the road, locals rave about the Stecca Bread, which is a type of Italian bread that’s perfect for sandwiches.

This cafe/grocery is located on the Swamp Rabbit Trail (multi-use urban trail). So if you want to get in a morning bike ride or walk, it’s an easy ride from downtown Greenville there and back. This is the perfect spot to start your day.

Bake Room At The Commons

The Bake Room at The Commons is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. This small bakery offers a wide variety of pastries and freshly baked bread. They are only open Thursday through Sunday. So if you’re looking for a weekend breakfast spot, this is the place to go.

I highly recommend the cardamom roll and chocolate croissant, which are absolutely delicious. They have perfect textures with just the right amount of sweetness.

Located in The Commons, a food hall along the Reddy River, you’ll find a number of other breakfast options. So if you can’t decide what to have, you can always sample a few different things. For coffee, Methodical Coffee is the place to go and it’s right next to The Bake Shop. They have a wide selection of both hot and cold drinks, and the coffee is some of the best I’ve ever had.

Papi’s Tacos

If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast with a Latin twist, Papi’s Tacos is the place for you. This taco shop is located along the river right across from the concert stage. They serve up tacos, burritos, and other Mexican-inspired dishes with a picturesque view.

This local favorite is normally open to the public for lunch and dinner. The only way to enjoy breakfast at Papi’s tacos is by taking Greenville History Tour’s Breakfast Tour. I ordered the chorizo and egg taco, which was served on a fresh corn tortilla and topped with cilantro and queso fresco. It was absolutely delicious!

Greenville History Tour’s Breakfast Food Tour

If you’re looking for a unique food tour experience, look no further than Greenville History Tour’s Breakfast Food Tour. This tour takes you to some of the best breakfast spots in town, past some of the city’s famous landmarks, and provides interesting facts and stories about Greenville’s history. I highly recommend this tour if you’re interested in learning more about the city and eating some delicious food.

The Breakfast Food Tour is the second food tour I’ve done with Greenville History Tours. During the tour, we enjoyed Biscuit Head, Southern Pressed Juicery, and Papi’s Tacos. At the time I am writing this, the cost for the tour is $39 per person.
