“Social distancing is still a priority for travelers but so is getting out of the house and going, well, anywhere,” says Michelle Johnson, Co-Owner of the SkyPark Camp + RV Resort at SkyPark Santa’s Village in Lake Arrowhead. Luckily this isn’t limited to RV owners. With RV rentals companies like RVshare, you can make family memories without the RV ownership headache.

When it comes to family RV travel, you have many reasons to RV for your next family vacation including:

RVs are a great way to explore the country without having to fly

RVs let you go to places that are off the beaten path and be in control of who you travel with. RV rentals are a family-friendly way to see the sights, stop when you want to stop, and be in control of your travel plans. Plus roadside attractions are more fun when you’re in the driver’s seat!

RVs are as Easy to Book as an AirBnB or Hotel Room

RVs are as easy to book as a hotel room. But unlike a hotel that is set at capacity by brick-and-mortar, RVs can be reserved online for just about any type of trip or occasion. The best part: you don’t have to stay on property like with hotels! You can drive your RV anywhere you want to vacation or have it set up at your destination.

You can find all the various amenities and conveniences you want in a rental. From kitchenettes stocked with pots/pans and dishes to large-screen TVs in every bedroom; you can find RVs, motorhomes, and travel trailers with everything you could ever want or need.

Before renting your first RV, check out these questions you should ask before you hit “book”.

Get Away From It All but Still Have the Comforts of Home

Kids and adults alike love family vacations, but you don’t have to endure the hassles of tent camping at a crowded campground. There is no setting up a tent or inflating air mattresses. With an RV rental, your family can enjoy all of the comforts of home while still enjoying the fresh air at the campsite!

Perfect for Bonding Time

For family vacations, there is nothing better than spending quality time together. And what’s more bonding than getting outdoors together, playing interactive family games, or eating your meals together?

Explore Places You’ve Never Been

Aside from a family cruise, family vacations don’t really start until you get to the destination. With RVing, the vacation starts as soon as you hit the road opening up new destinations. You can even plan family adventures in the same area by just driving to a new campsite every day or go off-grid and go boondocking.

For unique destinations you can’t visit in a tent, a Harvest Host membership allows you to RV camp for free at wineries, farms, and orchards. It’s a great way to show your kids where their food comes from.

Explore Nature and Get Outdoors

Taking an RV family vacation is like combining all of your favorite things – camping, nature walks, exploring outdoor destinations – with family time. And when you’re spending this much time outdoors together, it’s easy to get a family adventure going. Pack some old-fashioned fun like frisbees or badminton, and you’re all set for an afternoon of family outdoor time that will engage everyone in the family.

RV campgrounds also offer you the ability to spread out around your RV to unwind. Set up chairs to enjoy a meal outside, light a campfire, or just look up at the stars.

Renting an RV Saves Money

RV family vacations are more affordable than they may seem, and often can even be cheaper than a hotel family vacation. Here’s why: RV campgrounds offer many of the amenities of hotels – pools, playgrounds, activities for kids – but at much lower prices.

You can find RV rentals as low as $500 a week, which is much less than the cost of family hotel accommodations. Find and reserve campsites with Campspot. This is the website I use to find last-minute RV and tent camping spaces. You can also find out more about free camping sites here.

Family Pets are Welcome

RV family vacations are family-friendly for all members. Pets, even if you have a large dog, can come along on family RV trips, and many campgrounds even offer pet-friendly sites or spaces where pets are welcome!

With an RV rental, you have a backyard that your furry friends also enjoy exploring. It’s easy to find pet-friendly destinations.

Great Opportunity for Multi-Generational Trip

A family vacation in an RV is also a great way to include grandparents! Grandparents may be retired and have the time, energy, and desire for family bonding that children crave but they don’t always get from their working parents. RVs usually sleep up to six adults comfortably, though it could be roomier depending on the size and bed configurations inside. The family can be spread out over one or more RVs too. Plus campgrounds offer a range of activities too for all ages.

Make Memories With Your Family

You can make memories and get away with family camping trips without having to worry about your family’s safety in a tent. You’ll feel more at home while exploring new towns when staying in an RV, rather than staying at busy hotels or at an expensive AirBnB.

If you are considering renting an RV for your next family vacation, we’ve given you 10 reasons why it might be the best decision ever. For one thing, there is no better way to experience America in all its glory than from behind the wheel of a camper van. Plus, with so many options in terms of size and amenities available at various rental companies across the country, you can find exactly what fits your needs and budget most efficiently! Whether you want to drive up to Alaska or down south by Florida this summer (or any time!), now is a great time to get out there and start exploring some new destinations on wheels. Whatever destination catches your fancy–whether that’s visiting relatives in Texas or driving through Yellowstone National Park–renting a family-friendly campervan is the way to go.

It’s been so long since my family went outside and now that lockdown restrictions are slowly being lifted, we’re thinking about where to go. Thanks for mentioning that going to an RV resort could let my family enjoy outdoor fun again while sitting around a campfire and experiencing nature. We’ll definitely consider this for our trip.

The fact that RV-ing can allow you ample bonding time really interests me. This could be the thing that we can do so my kids can get to know their uncle more, as my brother recently returned from a trip abroad. I’ll start arranging things by looking for an RV campground we can get started at.

This article makes RVing sound like a blast! I love that it’s easy to book, like an Airbnb or hotel. And exploring off the beaten path with the family sounds amazing. Have any of you tried RVing? What was your favorite part?
